What to expect from Maison&Object September 2025

As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, anticipation gathers around one of the design world’s most awaited moments: the September edition of Maison&Object 2025.

This edition carries a distinct energy, guided by the creative direction of Amélie Pichard. Renowned for her audacious approach and her lasting impact on fashion, Pichard brings her uncompromising vision to Paris, promising a fair that challenges convention while celebrating imagination in all its forms.

Featuring 2,500 brands across 6 themed sectors, the event unveils new trends across various industries. This edition is a celebration of how every single object, when carefully chosen, can infuse a home with its unique soul and character.

Explore this article and make sure you don’t miss the trends that are setting the tone for the next season.

WELCOME HOME

“A place where accidents and encounters are welcome.”

This is how Amélie Pichard describes the WELCOME HOME, an Open House that invites everyone passionate about design to explore this unique installation that not only honors creative freedom but also advocates for accessibility of design.

Unconfined by physical barriers, this house wants to spark conversation and fuel new ideas, free from any constraints. Here, objects are not passive elements with the sole purpose of being visually appreciated but active participants in the dialogue, challenging and redefining what design becomes when it is no longer confined to display.

In the center of the WELCOME HOME stands a remarkable piece of work – a teapot-house, conceived through the collaboration of ceramicist Blumen and artificial intelligence. A piece that underscores the fading boundary between traditional craft and artificial intelligence.

Design’s Playground Core

There are no rules. As mentioned before, this edition thrives on disruption — the very force that brought the Design District to life. The Design District stands as a playground for creativity, spotlighting emerging talent and the trends that will define tomorrow.

Guided by Hall Hous’s artistic direction, daring ideas and experimental approaches take center stage, presenting a vision that seizes attention, a harmonious balance of culture, experience, and functionality.

Each creation is unique, audacious, and immersive – and they must be experienced to be fully appreciated.

The Return of Postmodernism

By rejecting logic and challenging conventions, we witness the return of Postmodernism, perhaps as a natural extension of the strong surrealist presence that defined the previous edition. This fair unveils scenes where psychedelic patterns collide with geometric forms and objects blur the line between furniture and sculpture, provoking a feeling of strangeness. Wavy wall motifs, vibrant colors, and abandoned functionality in favor of pure visual impact, embracing a playful, daring spirit that lies at the heart of Postmodernism.

Innovative Materials and Technologies

Echoing the theme of this edition of Maison&Object, one of the defining features of the fair is the fearless exploration of innovative materials and emerging technologies. Artists and designers embrace experimentation, giving rise to pieces crafted from unexpected contrasts and imaginative textures.

Technology, too, is treated as a creative partner rather than a mere tool. It weaves its way across multiple sectors, quietly reshaping how objects are imagined and experienced. In the COOK & SHARE sector it truly comes alive, elevating the art of hospitality. Here, technology is not hidden in the background; it stands side by side with design.

Across the fair, similar approaches reveal a future-oriented vision of design where sustainability, craftsmanship, and technology merge to shape objects that provoke as much as they inspire.

Between Past and Present

Corporate social responsibility remains a foundational principle in everything that is created. The new generation of designers forges connections between past and future, combining traditional techniques with cutting-edge innovations such as mixing artisanal know-how with digital design.

This edition of Maison&Object 2025 highlights a new wave of design – inventive, bold, and socially conscious. A prime example is designer Helena Mazur, who embraces these values as a core pillar of her brand, as she only uses natural Australian merino wool, a soft, hypoallergenic material that is environmentally friendly. Her work is a remarkable example of how an ecological mindset can drive, rather than hinder, creative expression.

Ultimately, the September 2025 edition of Maison&Object is more than just a showcase of products; it’s a powerful statement on the future of design. Under Amélie Pichard’s visionary guidance, the fair celebrates a new generation of creative minds.

From the audacious expressions of the Design District to the poetic use of innovative materials, every corner challenges expectations, sparks conversation, and redefines what the home can be. There’s no doubt that the future of design is bold, inventive, and deeply committed to a more conscious world.
